What is a flashcard?

A flashcard, or memory card, is a two-sided card: a question, a word or an image on the front, the answer on the back. The learner tries to answer, then flips the card to check. This back-and-forth calls on active memory, far more effective than simply re-reading.

With EduTools, you create a deck of online flashcards in minutes and share it with your students. They revise from a computer, tablet or phone, with nothing to install.

Active memorisation, in class and between sessions

Flashcards are perfect for vocabulary, definitions, dates, formulas — anything that requires memorisation. In class, they serve as a quick revision activity; between sessions, they extend learning independently.

Each deck stays available in the room: your students come back to it as often as they like, which supports spaced repetition, the mechanism that fixes knowledge over the long term.
